A Little Egret was the highlight this morning, preening by the W lake reeds, viewed from the viewpoint at the back of the lake, then it flew off to the north with 2 Grey Herons. There were a couple of Siskin by the Med Village boardwalk and a Reed Bunt and a Cetti's singing there, and the Lsr Scaup was on E lake. Also caught this pair of frogs in flagrante delicto:

Yesterday whilst walking the dog and avoiding the half term crowds around the lakes, I flushed a Jack Snipe from the perimeter of the fenced in 'snipe paddock' beyond the dragonfly pond. I was walking along the perimeter fence line and let out an expletive when my boot lace came undone in the mud - my shout caused the JS to flush from about a foot away! Also just afterwards a Common Snipe towered away. The JS flew low about 6 metres and scuttled off into the vegetation.

Cosmeston 3rd Feb

A few photos from a walk around yesterday. Click each pic for a bigger one. During the walk Poppy the dog was initially off the lead. She went on the lead whilst I put food down near the dragon tree and took some birdie pix, then stayed on as we continued. She suddenly got v excited and suddenly from the right a large fox trotted across the path right in front us! A magnificent animal in beautiful condition. Poppy went apeshit! - good job she was on the lead at that point or I hate to think what might have happened! The fox must have jumped across Sully Brook and off into the farm fields outside the park.

The Dragon Tree

4 Little Grebes together in W lake bay.
