Cosmeston Night-heron

Apparently the Night-heron was still present yesterday morning, seen by one of the rangers doing his rounds, in roughly the same location as previously.

An adult [Black-crowned] Night-heron found by Peter Howlett yesterday was a nice addition to the Cosmeston list although it would't show on the three occasions I managed to get down there. Peter's flight shots are on the Glamorgan Birds sightings blog:
There was quite a bit of activity by 3-4 Grey herons this morning including this one involved with a chase with another:

Lavernock reserve

Lesser Whitethroat singing this morning. A lot of dragonflies at the pond including a pair of Emperors in cop and a number of Black-tailed Skimmers & Blue-tailed & Large Red Damselflies. Several Brimstones seen and a few what I took to be Common Blues.
A pair of Shelduck flew u/c at St Mary’s Well Bay.
