Pr Ad GCGs with 3 tiny chicks in middle of W lake. Pr ad little Grebes in W lake 'bay' - no sign of any breeding attempt. A few Swift and Swallow swooping down to W lake to drink.
To my surprise the boat washing facility that was built in Jan and is yet to be used, is fully functional. Although put there to stop the spread of inter alia, Zebra Mussels, it is apparently up to the water users to decide whether they use it or not. The cones and plastic barrier at the open end of the facility don't exactly encourage its use.

Despite my concerns the GCGs on W lake have 3 chicks. Watched them being fed amongst the Water Bistort and on the ads back this morning. 1000's of Rudd surface basking by the boardwalk outside the cafe. o/w bird wise vv quiet. In an hrs walk did not hear a single vocalisation apart from Wood Pigeons. Hardly saw anything either. Hoards of potential human lobsters tho'!

Quiet and dismal :-( Only things of note were a few Swift over W lake battling against the wind and mizzle. The GCG is still sitting tight on the nest. No evidence of chick movement for several days so I wonder if they have chilled & died.

Quiet, of note 2 Gloucestershire-ringed Lesser Black-backed Gulls and ±20 Crossbills flying low NE, all at East Lake entrance.

Finally a little bit of interest this morning. The GCGs on W lake now have poss 3 chick[s] - if all 3 eggs have hatched. Saw one fluffy head poking out from under mum on the nest this morning.
Also 1 Common Sandpiper W lake shore, and a Weasel in the conservation area.
